About
I am a Graphic Design BFA candidate at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at GWU, creating system-driven and socially engaged design across UI/UX, editorial, and interactive platforms.
I entered graphic design through problem-solving. Recognizing my strength in analyzing challenges and constructing structured responses, I was drawn to a discipline where decision-making, systems thinking, and visual communication intersect. Graphic design revealed itself not merely as a creative practice, but as a strategic one — a field where form and function must coexist with intention.
Growing up in a household immersed in visual culture — with a mother specializing in fabric design and a brother in fine arts — I was constantly surrounded by artistic materials and creative dialogue. While this environment nurtured my sensitivity to form and composition, it was the analytical dimension of design that solidified my commitment to the field.
Influenced by both Korean cultural sensibilities and my experience living in Washington, D.C., I am particularly interested in how design can operate as a mechanism for social and environmental change. UI/UX and interactive systems especially resonate with me because they transform design from static output into lived interaction.
